Delivery of £200,000 Sealine 37 powerboat ends on the rocks
Wouldn’t you be rather annoyed if your brand new £200,000 power boat was sunk on route to you? I certainly would!
Two men crashed and sunk a new Sealine 37 motor launch which was being delivered to Ireland from Southampton. The sinking happened in Falmouth at 5.45am just after they had fuelled up. They hit rocks at Zone Point, near St Anthony’s Head. The Sealine, named Seaworks, was traveling at 16 knots and sunk in only 15 ft of water. The two men were pulled to safety by an all-weather and an inshore lifeboat from Falmouth.

Terry Collins, Falmouth coastguard spokesman, said: “We are not sure at all how they did it, but they have got some serious explaining to do.”

Wot no charts? Wot no C-Map? Wot no GPS? Rocks are hard to see in the dark and 5:45am in October is not really a good time to set out. Just look on the bright side, no lives lost and the Duchy of Cornwall water baillifs didn’t arrive and demand £5 per day for anchoring!
Still astonished how 2 wise men can hit rock with a brandnew boat…
