BRP RECREATIONAL PRODUCTS UK AND JBT MARINE ENTER STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

Announcement made at RIBEX 2007, Cowes Yacht Haven, Isle of Wight, 11th - 13th May 2007

BRP Recreational Products UK Ltd, the new regional office for BRP in the UK, has entered a strategic partnership with JBT Marine Ltd, distributor of Ballistic RIBS for the UK and Europe. All new Ballistic RIBs purchased in the UK and Europe throughout 2007 will be pre-rigged with Evinrude(®) E-TEC(T) outboard engines.

“We believe the Evinrude E-TEC is the best engine for our boats and our customers. The E-TEC technology is one of the most environmentally advanced on the market and the engines are also offered with a great warranty that includes the first dealer scheduled service after 300 hours or 3 years,” says Jonny Boys, Managing Director, JBT Marine Ltd. “We look forward to working closely with BRP and expanding the presence of Ballistic RIBs internationally as well as introducing new dealers to our network.”

The Evinrude E-TEC is one of the cleanest engines available today. It meets and exceeds the European Union emissions standards, and was the first outboard engine to receive the prestigious Clean Air Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in 2005. The range was also the first full line of outboard engines to receive the Air Resources Board’s (CARB) 3-star designation for Ultra Low Emissions.

The direct injection of the Evinrude E-TEC engine provides up to twice the fuel efficiency of competitive technologies. Its Engine Management Module (EMM) coupled with the fully stratified combustion system ensures that the engine burns less fuel under any load or condition.

See several Ballistic RIBs equipped with Evinrude E-TEC outboard engines, ranging from 5.5m to 7.8m, on display on the pontoons at RIBEX 2007. Dolphins spotted from a RIB by the Nab Tower

Just had a call from one of 7.8 Ballistic RIB (Rigid inflatable boat) owners, He was very excited because he says that he and his family got to play with 10 dolphins for over an hour.

The RIB trip started from the hard at Itchenor, West Sussex in Chichester harbour and then out across the Chichester Bar out of the Eastern Solent to the Nab tower. The Nab Tower for those of you that don’t know is and interesting place to visit in itself.

“This curious looking object a few miles to the South East of Bembridge started life during the First World War as part of an anti-submarine defence system. During 1916 the British Admiralty, alarmed by the losses of allied merchant shipping to German U-boats designed four or six towers that were to be built and positioned in the Straits of Dover. They would be linked together with steel nets and armed with two 4″ guns. However when the Armistice was signed in 1918 only one of the planned towers was anywhere near completion. The others were dismantled but what was to be done with this 92 foot tall metal cylinder (costing one million pounds sterling, in those days), sitting on its raft of concrete?”

It was a great surprise to see not just one dolphin but a whole school, even some babies. Its amazing what you can see and do in a RIB and great when you get an experience like this.

Marine Industry sailing Regatta JBT- RIBS for sale /Thornham marina 5th Place

Last Wednesday we had the pleasure of entering the Marine industry regatta, what a great experience that was! With 42 entrees, all from the marine industry the Sunsail Sunfast 37’s had a reassuringly uneventful day displaying a very high standard of racing.

We put together a team from with JBT-Risforsale.com (Rigid inflatable boat specialists) and Thornham marina (Marina and boat yard) our sister company and came home with 5th place, not bad!
