Multi-million pound funding for the Sail, Power & Watersports Show at Earls Court, London

October 23rd, 2008 | Posted in Events and shows, Ribs | No Comments »

The Sail, Power & Watersports Show at Earls Court is getting a multi-million pound investment. The investment, headed by Robert Court, will complement existing sponsorship and allows organisers to focus on delivering a show that will entertain families and inspire the next generation of mariner. Robert Court said, “Like many sailors, I am passionate about my sport. The 2007 show at Earls Court was a real success and a credit to the team that worked so hard to deliver the biggest consumer launch show of the year with just 9 months preparation. The 2008 Sail, Power & Watersports Show will be a show not to miss, delivering real family entertainment as well as displaying hundreds of different boats in a venue that sailors love. I’m looking forward to bringing my family to Earls Court again in November.”

Running from the 26th – 30th November, this show looks like it is not one to be missed.

Delivery of £200,000 Sealine 37 powerboat ends on the rocks

Wouldn’t you be rather annoyed if your brand new £200,000 power boat was sunk on route to you? I certainly would!

Two men crashed and sunk a new Sealine 37 motor launch which was being delivered to Ireland from Southampton. The sinking happened in Falmouth at 5.45am just after they had fuelled up. They hit rocks at Zone Point, near St Anthony’s Head. The Sealine, named Seaworks, was traveling at 16 knots and sunk in only 15 ft of water. The two men were pulled to safety by an all-weather and an inshore lifeboat from Falmouth.

Terry Collins, Falmouth coastguard spokesman, said: “We are not sure at all how they did it, but they have got some serious explaining to do.”

Boat Thefts on the Increase

Burglaries in Sussex have increased by a staggering 80% and this has been attributed to the deepening effects of the credit crunch.

Boat owners are urged to be vigilant and ensure that their valuable RIBs are secured safely. The latest thefts, listed at stolenboats.org.uk, include a number of RIBs, trailers and outboard motors.

All RIB owners are reminded to ensure that they have adequate and appropriate RIB insurance.
